Kalle Carranza Surfing @ his new Homebreak!
During the Autumn i had the chance to spend time with Kalle Carranza in Helsinki while visiting my girlfriend Tuuli. My plan was to be in Helsinki, fully relaxing and doing nothing but resting and recharging my battery for the 2012 Puerto season. I was totally surprised when i got a call from Kalle, the very next day after i landed in Finland, to go with them and shoot surfing in a secret spot. I was like, there’s no waves in Finland!
Surprise surprise. I went with them and saw a whole new surfing world. I was amazing how positive these guys were about onshore 1-2 foot waves. I realized how stoked they are. For me it was super fun, cause the whole scenario was completely different. Walking through the forest, pine trees, mushrooms, different type of rocks and a very windy day.
As the days went by, Johnny and Kalle took me to different places where i got to see 4 or 5 different pointbreaks, but the very best place was the one where we went on a boat trip and score, what for finnish surfers would be, epic over head surf! Luckily for me and Kalle, SURFER mag was kind enough to run a cool feature about surfing in Finland!
There was only a couple of shots, but i think its better than nothing and for me its the best way to start off the year with a bang! Stay tuned…
